Traditional Sugarcane Production House and Sustainable Production

...

Currently, the production of sugarcane in the country can only meet about 30% of the total demand, while the rest of 70% is fulfilled by mainly the sugarcane imported from the various parts across the world. It is evident that the major cause behind lower sugar production in the industry includes supply of minimum sugarcane in the factories. The cultivation of cane cultivation has been dramatically reduced due to the excessive production of cereals and other short-duration crops which cause less amounts of sugarcane production. It is revealed that the production of cane per unit area is minimum than that of the other countries which produces sugarcane. Therefore, the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) focuses on the achievement of self-sufficiency in sugar production inside the country. Moreover, the GoB has taken some effective measures to introduce tropical sugar beet for required sugar production. Considering this aspect, the Bangladesh Sugar Crop Research Institute (BSRI) has developed some practical measurements and also recommended significant amount of sugarcane production technologies from planting to harvesting.
The newly advent technologies involve the introduction of a number of high-yielding sugar, and pest-resistant sugarcane varieties. Additionally, it includes incorporating with sugarcane, flexible transplanting system, ration management, and pest management. This, moreover, involves to updating the fertilizer dose for the various agro-ecological zones, which considered to the creation of a variety of significant sugarcane cultivation tools across the country.
